One of the most common objections I get from people reading GPT is the incompatibility with quark theory, yet it seems that there is no direct experimental evidence for quarks or fractional charges.
I found this paper form Stanford, admittedly a few years old, but it's pretty clear about the lack of experimental evidence.

My thoughts are we should keep an open mind about the structure of matter, and consider all ideas that make reasonable predictions.
